In answer to your letter of the 13th. instant, No. 1033, paragraph 1, I have to say that none of my Committee have personal knowledge of the authority under which the Naval Range at Kowloon was extended by this Association over Crown Land from 400 to 900 yards: and that no record can be found. I need only remark that this Association claims no title over or to the extension you refer to other than the good pleasure of His Excellency the Governor.
I am informed however by a former Bonorary Secretary that he is sure sane peroit was given, and that he believes it was embodied in a letter from the Colonial Secretary of about 1385.
Referring to the 3ad. paragraph of your latter "whether the Association cannot arrange to make use of the Police Range ?" my Committee instructs me to say that they trust the Association will not be required to quit its present Range until the very last available moment.
Should removal to the Colonial or Police Range become imperative, the matters most necessary for the con- tinued well-being of the Association are:-
I. That a dwelling hut, and a small piece of land should be allowed for the Association's markers olose to the Ranga Butts.
II. That stated times should be appointed within which the Association shall have exclusive control of the Range, in- cluding Saturday afternoons.
A but c., is necessary in order that the markers may always be at hand when wanted; without this facility (which exists at present) practice by individual members would become too troublesome to be practicable.
Tith
